FAQ
Frequently asked
Is my contribution tax-deductible?+
Not currently. Play Raise Plays is a for-profit platform, so contributions are not tax-deductible. We include a full receipt with each gift so you can keep it for your records and check with your tax advisor. If a specific athlete is set up through a registered 501(c)(3) collective in the future, we'll clearly label that on their page.
Where does my money actually go?+
Every contribution gets split three ways: ~94.5% goes directly to the athlete, 3% goes to the Player Education Fund (tax help, financial planning, career coaching), and the remainder covers Stripe processing and platform operations. The exact breakdown is on your receipt.
Can I cancel a monthly pledge?+
Yes, anytime. Head to your account → Recurring pledges to cancel. Cancellation stops future charges immediately and you keep access through the end of the current period.
Do athletes get to see who's supporting them?+
They see totals and can post updates back to their supporters. Personal contact info is never shared unless you both opt in for something like a virtual meet-and-greet.
What perks do I get?+
It depends on the tier. Rookie ($10/mo) gets monthly video updates and your name on the supporter wall. Starter ($25/mo) adds signed cards and merch drops. MVP ($100/mo) adds a signed game-worn item and an annual virtual meet-and-greet.
How do I become a registered athlete?+
The athlete self-registration portal is coming soon. In the meantime, athletes can email hello@payraiseplays.com to get set up manually.
Is my payment secure?+
Yes. All payments run through Stripe, an industry-standard PCI-DSS compliant processor. Play Raise Plays never sees or stores your card details.
What happens to my pledge if an athlete leaves the school or turns pro?+
You'll get a notification and your recurring pledge is paused. You can redirect it to another athlete or cancel.
